Adoption in our family
how willow joined our family
We are so thankful that adoption is part of our family’s story. We know that adoption is both beautiful and messy, and we are continually learning and growing in our understanding of the complexity of it all.We are so grateful for the relationship that we have with Willow’s birth mother. It give us joy to share with Willow her birth story, which is full of pictures and words that help explain her story.
Adoption is a very common and open conversation we have around our home and one we speak of in a positive way; we seek to honor Willow’s birth momma in everything we do and promise to do that with you, too!
our life together-
Most days you will find us enjoying our fun and simple life together as a family! We love the routine that we have established in a city that we love with an amazing community that we get to do life with every day. Throughout the week after the girls come home from school, you can catch us most often at our neighborhood park or in the backyard if we aren’t enjoying gymnastics class or swim lessons. On the weekends, we enjoy “Friday Night Movie Night” complete with our favorite pizza and popcorn, and you’ll always find us in church on Sunday as we focus on growing our faith as a family!

We love spending quality time with one another–going to the zoo, our amazing aquarium, finding a new park, and taking golf cart rides around the neighborhood are some of our favorite everyday activities as a family! We also love to travel and place a high value on this as we raise our girls to explore the amazing world that God created!

While we love to travel to new places, we always come back to our favorite travel spot: the beach. Both of our families have annual vacation spots at different beaches which allow us to create new memories year after year with our amazing families!

We are extremely close to both sides of our families, but because we don’t live in the same city as any of our extended family, we have learned the value that our community of friends has in our lives. We love opening up our home and want it to be a fun, safe, and welcoming place for everyone.

Willow came to us through the gift of adoption, and Naomi is biological to us. They are truly the best of friends! Willow is curious, hilarious, empathetic, and a great big sister. Naomi is full of personality, strong-willed, so funny, she gives the best snuggles, and loves to be around people!
We talk about adoption openly in our home, as this is part of our family’s story, and the girls are so excited about adding another sibling to our home. Willow reminds us often that she will be big enough to help with the new baby and Naomi will love and welcome her new sibling – we know she will give the best kisses and hugs.

Our family values quality time with one another, being deeply rooted in community, spending time with our extended family, and traveling. When it comes to how we filter decisions in our home, our family has 5 family values.

- We've been married for over 10 years and are truly the best of friends.
- Ann works a very flexible job at home which allows her to place her priority on being present and available for our children and their needs.
- Matt is a college pastor at our church and is passionate about pouring into the next generation.
- We are extremely close with our extended families on both sides and are so grateful for those relationships!
- Our faith is the center of our lives and home. We are active at our church & really believe that life is better with Jesus at the center of it all!
- We love our neighborhood & just renovated our home so that we can continue to grow our family here. It's safe, diverse, and full of young families that we do everyday life with.
